Dr. Steven Shoen specializes in a variety of reconstructive techniques at all areas of the body. Breast Reconstruction has been a major component of his practice since the completion of his training. He works closely with a multitude of breast surgeons and oncologists to provide patients with optimal reconstructive breast surgery while maintaining strong oncologic principles. Dr Shoen has a close affiliation with the Cancer Institute of New Jersey where he performs reconstructive work at all areas of the body following the removal of large skin tumors. Many local dermatologists refer their skin cancer patients to Dr. Shoen for tumor removal as well as reconstruction. As an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery Dr. Shoen is often called upon to manage facial and extremity trauma cases including broken bones of the face, extensive leg wounds as well as all forms of hand trauma.
Dr Shoen has been trained to carry out a variety of reconstructive techniques including: skin grafting, flap reconstruction, and complex microsurgery. Wound care options such as VAC dressings or use of skin substitutes are sometimes employed.
